The Paso del Norte Region

Texas, New Mexico, Chihuahua, and the United States and Mexico

Seated at the crossroads of North America, just to the east of the continental divide, the Paso del Norte region offers the most efficient overland trade route between the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, from Los Angeles to Houston, from New Orleans to Jacksonville. Complementing this east-west trade route, the Paso del Norte, as its name suggests, provides a strategic gateway between the Bajío in central Mexico and the Front Range of the Rockies, extending all the way into northern and western Canada, and eastward over the Great Plains toward Kansas City, Chicago, and the Great Lakes.

The juncture of these north-south and east-west trade routes makes the Paso del Norte region a critical nexus of material resources, capital, labor, and culture, connecting major markets within and beyond North America.
